Frank Strazza was our featured speaker for the July meeting. Frank is an award winning furniture maker working out of a small studio shop in the Texas Hill Country. He has been building furniture for over 25 years. Frank employs centuries old techniques to produce his furniture. He only uses solid wood throughout. Frank uses handtools to create precision handcut dovetails and surfaces that are handplaned to perfection. Each piece is signed and dated. During this all-day seminar Frank built an end table with a drawer, utilizing both hand and power tools. He demonstrated mortise and tenon joinery, created tapered legs, solid drawer construction, and half blind dovetails.  Admission to this seminar was free to members as well as guests.  Lunch was available for members and guests.  The Woodworkers Club of Houston thanks Crosspoint Church for the use of their facilities for this seminar. Curt Cobler of 6 x 13 Woodworking spoke to club members about techniques and ways they apply Ecopoxy products to craft their “river” wood design products and other woodworking projects. Curt showed examples of their work as well as projects by others.   Mike Turner, President WWCH 2017, presents one of twenty recognition plaques to John Boyles of Magnificat Houses, Inc.  These plaques recognize contributors to Magnificat. Thank you Mike Turner for crafting these plaques.
